Event Description: Join us in our first Volunteer Workday of the season on MLK Day.
The contribution volunteers make at Slide Ranch truly helps us deliver our mission! Whether you're a student fulfilling community service hours or someone who wants to put your green thumb to good use, Slide Ranch provides challenging, engaging and meaningful experiences. All minors 17 years and under must be accompanied by a participating adult. Minors cannot be dropped off. Parent/Chaperones must complete the online registration form AND register themselves as participants. Minors are not allowed to fill out the registration form as there is a liability waiver to be signed electronically.
Please wear layered clothing that can get dirty and closed toed shoes. Volunteer Days are held RAIN OR SHINE, so dress accordingly! Remember to bring a water bottle to stay hydrated. Feel free to bring snacks or a lunch for a picnic afterwards. Bring your own work gloves if you have them.
Volunteer workdays are from 9am - 12pm. If you need community service hours and arrive late, we are unable to extend our workday to provide more hours.
What to expect: You'll work under the supervision of Slide Ranch staff on our teaching farm and 134 acres of wild lands, contributing to Slide Ranch in whatever area has the greatest need that day. This might include:
- Gardening - weeding, pruning, prepping garden beds, planting and pest control, composting, restoring native plants and removing invasive plants, and maintaining trails and beach access, etc.
- Farm & Facilities - fixing fences, mucking out animal barns, building repairs, painting, etc.
