Dawned on Dusk!

Join us at Slide Ranch, on Saturday August 29th, for a magical time, as we gather on the bluff to experience Dawned on Dusk – the whimsical, bird-filled puppet show that Muir Beach community member Olivia Carroll-Weisel will be bringing to life amidst the Slide landscape. Bring a picnic, a blanket, and your friends and family! The show will take place as the sun lowers over the Pacific horizon, perhaps in golden light or shrouded in the beauty of late summer fog. 

Dawned on Dusk is a home-made paper-maché puppet show of epic proportions! This story for all ages follows Early, the early bird, as she attempts to find worms and restore the natural order of day and night. Come along for this wonderful and weird adventure and walk away saying, ‘How peculiar! How fun!’” This show is a collaboration between friends that live together in San Francisco and their neighborhood recycling. The story is puppeted by Olivia Carroll-Weisel, penned by Connor Williams, and made animate by our extended community of willing transfigurers. 

This special event is made possible with support from the West Marin Fund, as part of a collaborative effort to bring the creations of West Marin artists to Slide Ranch. It is rooted in the spirit of gathering together in gardens and on land, to celebrate what truly nourishes us – community, art, nature, food...!

Date and Time: Saturday, August 29th. “Doors” open at 4:30pm; performance at 6:30pm, with a puppet-led procession to the garden cypress for focaccia + pesto after the show. Arrive anytime after 4:30pm to set up your picnic blanket, explore the Ranch, and settle in for the show at the Yurt Bluff. 

Cost: Sliding Scale tickets ranging from $10 to $30; $6 to $20 per child under 13. Limited tickets available. Sliding Scale made possible by WMF support. Choosing a higher price ticket directly supports youth to participate in Slide Ranch programs through scholarships. Choose the price point that best suits your capacity at this time.

WHAT TO BRING: 

• Bring extra layers! Slide is located on the coast and experiences weather variations, from golden sun to shrouding fog – bring layers to stay comfortable throughout the evening 

• Comfortable walking shoes 

• Waterbottle 

• A picnic blanket and/or chairs. Slide Ranch will also provide some chair seating. 

• A picnic! 

CARPOOLING REQUIRED! Slide Ranch has very limited parking, so carpooling is necessary. If you cannot carpool and arrive at the Ranch parking area in a solo vehicle, you will not be able to park on site and will be asked to park at the Coastal trailhead parking lot on Hwy 1, where you can carpool from. Thank you for your understanding. Looking for added adventure? Hike in 1 mi on the Owl Trail from the Muir Beach Overlook. 

Please note that dogs are not allowed at Slide Ranch. Please leave your pups at home for this one.

Cancellation and Change Policy: Tickets are refundable, if your cancellation is made at least 14 days prior to the event/program/workshop, minus a $15 fee. Cancellations made within 14 days of the event/program/workshop WILL NOT be eligible for a refund.  Tickets cannot be transferred to a different event.
